Eligibility and Eligible Costs
Applicants
Islamic Manuscript Association grants are intended to preserve and facilitate access to Islamic manuscript collections and to support and advance research on Islamic manuscripts. All members of the Islamic Manuscript Association who have already paid their membership fees for the current year, whether individual or institutional, are eligible to apply (except for members of the board). Applications for individual or collaborative research projects are equally welcome, provided one of the project coordinators is an Association member.
Only one application per member per year will be accepted.
Projects should be scheduled for the year in which the grant is awarded, and should run for no longer than 12 months; however, if a project is unexpectedly delayed then a grant may be claimed up to two years after originally being awarded.
Reports
Grants are awarded on the condition that grant recipients submit to the Association tangible evidence of their projects’ outcomes, a record of expenditure, and a full and thorough 1,000-2,000 word report, including photos or images, that is suitable for publication on the Association’s website. These materials should be sent to the Association within three months of completing a project.
Tangible evidence of project outcomes could include copies of the following: published books, articles, or catalogues; reports or surveys; full-resolution digital images; and web resources such as online exhibitions, image galleries, or catalogues. Where the nature of the project is such that no tangible outcome is produced, the grant recipient must pay particular attention to ensuring that his or her report contains extensive evidence of the project’s successful realisation or implementation, such as photographs, event descriptions, event feedback, or publicity.
Grant recipients who do not submit final reports will not be eligible to receive future Association funding. The Islamic Manuscript Association reserves the right to publish reports on its website and make them available to the public. The Association reserves the right to withhold the final grant instalment if it is felt that the stated aims of the grant have not been achieved.
