Short Courses and Workshops
- The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) offers courses throughout the United States and online. The Institute also provides a calendar of other courses, conferences, seminars and workshops held in the United States and abroad .
- The Book and Manuscript Conservation Studio at St. John Theologian Monastery in Patmos, Greece organises summer workshops on historic bookbindings.
- Camberwell College of Arts, part of the University of the Arts London, offers short courses on various aspects of conservation at its South London campus year-round.
- The Canadian Conservation Institute organises workshops on preservation, conservation and conservation science in Canada and the United States. It also offers advanced professional development courses.
- The Hornemann Institut of the Faculty of the Preservation of Cultural Heritage at HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim, Germany offers online courses on collection care and management in both English and German.
- The United Kingdom-based Institute of Conservation (ICON) provides a directory of short courses offered by various institutions and organisations in the United Kingdom and Europe. Some training opportunities also appear on its calendar of events.
- International Academic Projects offers short professional development courses in conservation and museum studies in the United Kingdom and Europe as well as the renowned Chemistry for Conservators distance learning course.
- JISC Digital Media, based at the University of Bristol's Institute for Learning and Research Technology, offers several workshops on digitisation and managing digital collections. The main audience is members of the United Kingdom Further and Higher Education community, but others may also enrol.
- King's Digital Consultancy Service, based at King's College London, offers training courses that focus on the creation, delivery and preservation of digital resources from cultural and memory institutions, including the well-known Digital Futures course.
- Ligatus, a research centre at the University of the Arts London specialising in the study of historic bookbinding through the development of digital tools and resources with particular interest to conservation, holds a Summer School at various locations throughout Europe.
- The Montefiascone Conservation Project offers four week-long courses on conservation and preservation – especially medieval pigments and historical book structures – every summer. Conservation By Design funds the Nicholas Hadgraft Scholarship, which provides an award of ₤1000 towards the cost of attending classes.
- The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) organises workshops on conservation and preservation at its Andover, Massachusetts headquarters in the United States. It also offers a webinar series on preservation planning. The Center is a leader in training on the creation and management of sustainable digital collections.
- The Northern States Conservation Center offers several online courses on a broad range of topics related to collection care and management and museum studies.
- The Paper and Book Intensive offers classes in the book arts, including bookbinding, conservation, papermaking and printing, at a different location in the United States every summer.
- The Preservation Advisory Centre at the British Library organises short courses on collection care and management around the United Kingdom. Its website also lists a selection of other events, including training, occurring in the United Kingdom, Europe and Canada.
